I saw on FB that Tony Romo has announced his retirement. He said that he is planning to go into broadcasting. The article said that he may take Phil Simms' place on CBS. No surprise here as if he had stayed at Dallas he would most likely be Dak Prescott's backup. Romo had been no. 1 for too long to do that.

I wish Tony Romo well in retirement. Given his injury history the last few years, I think retirement is a smart move for him. There had been a lot of speculation that Romo would be traded, since his salary was waaay too much for Dallas to pay for a backup to Dak Prescott.

You never know what's in people's heads. I would have thought he would have moved on and brought some stability to a struggling team for a few years. His injuries must be more severe than we thought or he may just be tired of getting banged up.
I do think having a fresh face right off the field in the press box is a positive thing. I think Romo knows more about the current game than say Troy Aikman.

There was wide speculation that Denver and Houston were interested in Romo, but didn't want to trade for him - they were waiting for him to be released. Romo would have made Houston an instant Super Bowl contender. But, he's 39, I think? And has had repeated back injuries.
