Quite a bit earlier than normal it is time to get the boat ready for its trip to Texas in a month. I will miss the walleye spring spawning run on the Wolf River. This was normally a good time to fish with my brother but not this year. I am hearing reports of the walleyes heading up the Wolf. This is about a month early. The WI DNR are giving ice fishermen on Lake Winnebago until March 5th to get their ice shanties off the lake. The unseasonably warm weather has set us up for an early spring. The ice us mostly off the river,
In looking at the Texas map and talking with Charles, he suggested fishing Choke Canyon. It has 2 state park campsites and over 25,000 acres of water to fish. It should be fun.

We will be leaving the end of March like the 29th or 30th trying to beat the weekend traffic. We will wander towards Charles and Donna with the trip taking 4 or 5 days. The pig hunt is scheduled for the 14-15-16 weekend. We may stay with them a few days then go fishing and come back for the pig hunt. It will kind of be a "go with the flow" trip. We can stay in their yard with the camper while we are there. They have a couple dogs and their place would get quite crowded. It is good we travel with the house. We will leave the end of April to get back to get ready to leave for Alaska in late May/early June.

I have all the rods/reels ready to go. We are taking 17 of them. I ran into a snag yesterday when I discovered the onboard battery charger died. It has been working for 12 years so I guess everything has a life. We made the unplanned trop to Cabela's yesterday to get a replacement. The old one was a 2 bank charger. They new one is a three bank so it will charge the starting motor battery as well. Plus it was on sale for $60 less than the original $200.

We are looking forward to it Red. While I have known Bridgefarmer for 17 years, Debby has never met him. I made my first trip to see him in 2004. Since then I have had two conferences in Austin and set aside an evening to have dinner with Charles and Donna. While Debby communicates with them on FB she has never met them.
Mounting the 3 bank charger turned into a pain. There were issues getting the old two bank out of the boat. One stripped screw that I needed the die grinder to take out. It was siliconed in and needed a gentle pry bar to get it out. I couldn't get my big drills in the tight space to drill the mounting holes for the new one. I needed to go buy a little 4V ion drill that could rotate 180 degrees to be like a screw driver. It needed to charge overnight so I finished the installation yesterday. It is working fine. I have just a few things left to do on the boat. Debby is working on getting the camper ready. Busy time.
