There's hardly any activity on the board. Guess everyone is hibernating for the winter. What do you think?

Unfortunately forums like ours all over the web have gone dormant the last 5 years or so; the newness of them wore off and people moved onto other types of online recreation (facebook). The only forums having success still are the very large original forums - greybeard, hunting net, rimfirecentral, etc. Even huntchat, at the time one of the largest forums online and from where this forum got it's start, is basically defunct.
This is a free forum and we will continue to exist, but I do think it's time to officially recognize this forum has been wound-down for a couple years now. If I have let anyone down, I am truly sorry.
I will certainly always value the knowledge learned and friendships made over the last 17 years.

Red, you certainly have not let us down. The members have let themselves down by not posting. You, Jack, myself and (to a lesser extent) Bullseye have kept us afloat these last couple of years. I don't believe Facebook has hurt us. It's a totally different kind of setup. I use it only because I can see pictures of and get information about my grandson who lives 2 hrs away. Otherwise I hate it. It is just a bunch of liberal claptrap and lies. I don't even use Twitter at all, but both seem to be hugely popular. Who knows. We diehards will just have to keep posting and support the board.

It's the dead time of year - hunting season is over for most things, and football is over with, too. Facebook has changed things, I think. It's killed bulletin boards, except for a few of us troglodytes. Chat rooms had a similar fate once everyone went to Facebook.

Hunting Firearms was originally set up as a hunting website. As noted there is usually more activity during hunting season. Additional forums were added over time in an attempt to get activity in the off season such as fishing and sports. They usually had some activity but not a lot. Also many of the heavy posters aren't around much. Bill hasn't been on the forum in quite a while since he retired. He is on Facebook a lot though, as is Deputy Don. Donnie pulled off FB as I think he is getting more involved with his kids.
