Well I have yet to pull the trigger on anything. I did take a meat doe (173 pound field dressed) with the bow on November 5. First bow deer in many a year.
I passed on a fork horn buck and a basket rack 8 point. Opening morning. Hunted over 12 hours straight with only a 30 minute break to get a drink and take a restroom break.
Second morning I saw at 250 yards a wonderful 12 pointer who would not stop to take a shot at. Not that my 44 mag rifle is a 250 yard laser rifle. I still believe had he stopped I would have arched on into the chest like dan Marino.
I had to work from 3:30 pm till 1 am Sunday night and It snowed a couple of inches. Monday morning found me at the base of a tree in 16 degree weather and 20-25 mile an hour winds. I got set up in the old tree i use when it is windy overlooking a draw the the deer use to lay out of it. I thought if I just close my eyes a bit it will be light. I woke up at 9:30 to my phone going off and dad asking if I saw any deer. I told him no. They could have been all around me while I slept in the hollow part of that tree.
Monday after noon went to the cut corn field near the creek around some pines and saw nothing at all.
I have two more weekends and hope to see that 12'pointer again

Way to go, D-D! Myself, I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Seen quite a few little ones and does and let them go. The freezer's getting empty, though, so pretty soon. . . ..

The freezer's getting empty, though, so pretty soon. . . .. I have the opposite problem, I'm not sure I can fit 10 more pounds in the freezer. So I may not be getting a 2nd deer...or might be sending it off to get sausage made.

The freezer's not quite so empty now. Took a medium sized doe Sunday night. So, now the meat processing begins.

My season was shortened by a 7" snowfall and total shut down of deer movement. In the 6 days I hunted I saw a doe and a fawn.....that's it. I never even shouldered the rifle. They will be bigger next year.
