Well I have been lookin' for a different huntin' pistol and I found one. Bill had in his store a S&W Model 53 in .22 Jet. Basically a .357 Mag necked down to .22 caliber. Sounds like fun!!!! Thanks Bill!!!

Nice I had a contender barrel I picked up in a slew of contender items that several people wanted.
I ended up trading it for a 14 inch 223 barrel with swift 4 power pistol scope.
I have never seen a revolver in that setup. Sounds like a real fire breather.

Interesting.
What velocity do you anticipate coming out of the barrel?

I had heard that the Jet cases would slam up against the frame upon firing and would frequently hang up the mechanism. Is this true and, if so, have the newer guns corrected the problem?

"I had heard that the Jet cases would slam up against the frame upon firing and would frequently hang up the mechanism. Is this true and, if so, have the newer guns corrected the problem?" The Model 53 in 22 Jet hasn't been made for a long time. Back in the day, the cases slamming back against the recoil shield and locking up the gun was supposed to be a common problem. Looking at a 22 Jet case with the extreme taper of the case walls makes you suspect the cases would do that. . . The cure for that problem at the time was to make sure the chambers were NOT oily. Don't know how effective that was. The 53 is a really nice revolver, made back when S$W made some very quality revolvers. 53's also came with chamber inserts to fire 22LR cartridges, if I remember right.
