Ok so it looks like I'm acquiring an older 1906 short only 22 pump. Now I'll have something that will look right along side that 1897 shotgun. I just hope it's in decent enough shape. The pics show the type of wear you would expect which I'm fine with, I'm just worried that there is no pics of the stuff I would be worried about. I'll let you know how all this goes once I get it.

That rifle brings back fond memories of shooting galleries when I was a little kid - before they changed them all to some non firearm set up.

Nice! What did you trade this time? ha You're getting to know me well grasshopper. I picked up an older Leupold Vari-X IIc 3-9x40 AO I was going to either trade it for a different scope or sell it. Anyway I saw this Winchester 1906 advertised for sale but the guy wanted more than I could afford at the moment. So I figured what the heck,I offered him the scope plus some cash that I could afford.

Great a new gun to me and no ammo to shoot it. Don't know who I'll get more grief from, my kids or PBR

Anyone want to give me their thought on value of this one. I look at it as a shooter since it lacks any blueing and not a collector value. That being said it's gonna look nice sitting next to the 1897 shotgun.

That gun kind of reminds me of the old Win. model 62 that my dad had when I was a kid. I started out squirrel hunting with it. I loved that gun and wish I had it now. However he traded it off for a Marlin model 39 Mountie (which my son now has). I wish he had kept the Win. and just bought the Mountie outright. Ah, to think of all the guns that have been traded off that we now regret.

Well I have a line on a couple hundred rounds at normal prices. At least we will be able to make sure it goes bang. My only concern for this rifle ( ok maybe not only, but the big one) is the bore condition. My understanding is these older models were around during the corrosive ammo period and some of the bores will show corrosion. Hope my bore isn't all eaten up ( insert personal insult joke here) and destroyed.

I found a brick of shorts for 50.00 delivered, I'm going to pay the ramson in this case as it is even harder to find shorts, much less regular rimfire. That'll give me near 900 rnds. And should be ok until we can find more later.

If by brick you mean 500 rounds, I think you got a good price --- essentially the new normal retail price.
Even before the shortage, they were always about $3 per 50
