Had a fellow bring in an 8" Colt Python barrel and a Colt trooper with a 4 inch skinny tube and wanted a transplant. Well long story short with a little lathe work he now has a Pooper ( this is what the Smith fans called this conversion in the old days) . I had to take a full turn off the shank to get it to line up and then take about 4 thousands off the forcing cone to set the cylinder gap. The biggest problem was the frame of the trooper as it is sloped and the Python is square. I usually weld up the frame and mill it off to fit but this cheap fellow didn't want to spen the money, so I milled out a fillet and set it in with acra glass. So far it holds and it doesn't look too bad so now he has an 8" Pooper.
