While I was looking at an SKS or an AK due to the price of ARs I found a different one. I bought a M1 carbine in very good shape. Haven't shot this one yet but have shot them in the past. Thought $725 was a good price.

For my part, I would much rather have an M-1 Carbine than any AR, AK, or SKS. How does it shoot?

725 is a good price for an M-1 carbine these days. At the last gun show I went to, most were about 1000. Gotta agree, I'd rather have an M-1 carbine than an AR or AK, too.

I got lucky and the Grands were cheap at the CMP when they still had them. CHing
M1 carbines were already gone. Sad face.
Ak's I like but ammo is going up. I have a polytech and a Valmet two of the best imports ever. I am spoiled on ak's the new ones have terrible build quality and horrrid trigger slap. Never was much or an ar or sks guy.
The m1 is a hoot to shoot. like an auto 357 mag.
For a battle rifle you have to go with what you are comfortable with,
