It is a 25-20 kinda for the little PBR size deer but I don't think she will see lots of field use. As a matter of fact I don't think she come out of the safe much. Seems to be a 1909 vintage Winchester 1892 Saddle ring carbine in 25-20. The white stuff on the stock appears to be paint and I have yet to try and get it off. I rate it NRA 80% because someone tried to put on a scope at some time in the last 100 plus years. Bore is very nice and it lock up very tight still not nearly as sooth as many I have handled so I would say it has led a very sheltered life the ladt 104 years. Here is the only thing keeping it from nra 95% or better along with a slight blue rub from the saddle ring. You guys know I am a sucker for a good old lever action. Will add it to the savage 99, the marlin 336 sc and the BLR so 4 lever center fires now. I think she is a keeper. Now I have a new round to find brass and bullets for as 65 a box is what I found locally and I think i will just wait and get dies and brass instead. I have yet to fire it but I think she will fire just fine.

That's really pretty! I've never seen the termite forend before. I wonder what that was all about? Looks like someone had something screwed on there at one time. That is super nice blueing for a rifle of that age. The 25-20 should be an excellent small game/varmint cartridge, and cheap to shoot, too, once you start reloading. Especially if you cast your own bullets for it.

That's really pretty! I've never seen the termite forend before. If i can find a donor rifle with a good forend i will swap. I did find a 1892 forend at my local gun pushers in his parts stock but it has the regular end cap not the caribine style. I thought for a second I got real lucky. The carbines are a bit more scarce.

I would just use sawdust & elmers wood glue mixed to fill your holes and then forget about them.
