One piece steel.
Was thinking warne a little pricy. Going on a 22-250 so I may not need steel but the rings are steel and this is going to be a cool and hot weather gun. Coyotes and ground hogs something tells me to go steel on steel.
Big warne fan but also big fan of cash in pocket.

Steel one piece bases are not cheap. A lot of it depends on the application and design of the base. Just a standard 2 piece base from Warne runs around $25 and if you are looking at Blackhawks base it runs about $50. Hard to beat them. I think the Leopold base for the money is good but you need to use their rings or buy their two piece base similar to the Warne's.

Sorry I have Vortex package warne rings. So the leopolds are out. I picked up this scope. aaoptics.com/Riflescopes/CrossfireII/4-12x50AO/I looked at the Diamond back line and for the extra money I saw no difference. Now when i went up to the Viper line I did see a dig difference but this scope is going to be on this gun only. It gets shot but about a box a year. I will admit the loaner scope I got to play with for 2 weeks passed al my tests I could do with it. I got the 6-18 crossfire It held zero with QD rings, It tracked well and repeatable. I did the test at 50 and 100 yards with the 5 dots like a dice. I had the gun in a vice. I did the clicks up and left fired. Clicked right and fired. clicked down and fired. clicked left and fired and then back up and right. All shot hit with the clicks only. So it is repeatable and resetable. I had one little quirk at 18 power it did get a little grainy. Hey it was under 200. When I checked out the Viper line at 20 no grains. But again the PBR in me bought the cheaper line. I already ordered a warne one piece steel base. I wanted to give a good platform to test out the scope and rings. Since I have steel rings and the Heavy barreled 22-250 i think the one piece steel base was ok with weight and application and I saved on the scope. I think these vortex are better price for proformance that the Nikons or the Leopold scopes. At half the price of the leopolds and a bit less that he nikon line up. No plastic in these scope insides and they don't care if you run over it with a truck, shoot it with a bullet, or drop it in acid. Send it in they replace it not only for my lifetime but forever.
