Tracy, Dusty, and I went to the range today to get some rifles zeroed and do load development at 100 yards. Our Church Steel Shoot is several weeks away and I wanted to get my rifles ready for folks to shoot who don't have rigs set up for distance. First on the list was getting the Rem 40X, chambered in 308 ready to run. Varget, Hornady brass, Fed210M's, and 168 A-Max's was the recipe for the day. Started @ 43.5 and ended with 44.5 (4-shot groups). Determined OAL by seeing what was the longest OAL that would fit in my magazine, and then chambered it to see if I got land engagement. I let Tracy shoot the 308 and he did good. Still have the 4.5-14 Mueller on the 40X. He really enjoyed shooting the 308 with the Holland brake on it. Put a Sightron S-III 6-24 on my AR-15. And today was the first time I ever shot it. It did really well with an old load that worked for a 15" and a 16" upper that I had used before. 23.4 grains of TAC and a 69 grain SMK. After I zeroed it and shot a 3-shot group, Dusty shot up the rest of the ammo I had loaded, some of which was mixed primers and different bullets. It was his first time to shoot a AR with an optic. Here is my 3-shot group: Definitely a fun time at the range. I will chronograph in the near future. Now I need to load up 308, 223, and 6.5x47 Lapua (It has the E-3 scope on it), and I can outfit 3-shooters for the shoot.

I cheated a bit Ernie. I needed to get going and fast to get ready for the M&M Tactical match. One of the guys I work with also shoots the same gun I do and I asked him for his load. Fired a 3 shot group doing a .25 group and called it good. ;D ;D I might get it a bit better by playing with it but I think it will be good enough for now. Fingers crossed ;D

Nice
been to windy here when I had a chance to get to the range. I did go with the carry handgun for some practice up close this weekend. Wind was whipping but the range was empty Except for little old me and the 357.
I did get some ammo for the kimber at last as I have nothing slow enough for it. Found eley target and match pistol at a very good price for today's prices. Thing is I had to buy 2 boxes of each for 5 days to get a supply.
Dad's friend Tim took the small bore match at FCVCC with his annie won 25, 50 and 100 yard.
Aniies won the top 3 places, a shul 150 in Forth and some model 52 and custom 10-22's rounded out the top ten. They all had more in there scopes than I do in the kimber.
I was a dissapointing 27 out of 50 at 25 yards open sight. I guess I almost beat out half the field. Not bad since I had only shot it once before with high vel ammo. I got it sighted in with eley target and It does group well just need to shoot it till I know her better.
At 50 yards I did much better. 21st of 50. I was only one of 5 shooting target peeps at 50. No caldwell front rest and rear bag just a varment outers rest. It was real windy again so that helped me a little.
Next small ore match is the weekend after labor day.
Oh and I have a job interview at 9 am and nothing to do the rest of the day till my duaghters softball game at 6 pm. going to be 80 and no real wind till afternoon.
