Scott Anderson is up filming a show for Backland Experiences. He has been talking about building a Cob Oven at Turkey Camp out of local clay. Well we did it and boy does it work!!! Turkey, bread, Pizza !! It's like a prehistoric microwave !!!

This is one of the earliest ovens and they were used to feed the workers building the pyramids. The best bread bakers in Italy still use these. I just saw plans to build one from fire brick in a magazine not too long ago.

The cob oven was a huge success !! I think I'll make one at home in the butcher shop where it will be out of the weather. It took a short 1/2 day to build and another day to dry before the first firing but it will last for months even outside uncovered...... Everything came from the ground right here nothing store bought......
