Signed up for the rimfire matches at local gun club starting in May.
Never done the bench rest/free standing ect or any type of compatition shooting other than informal trap/skeet and steel plate stuff. I like the plates.
Handgun and rifle for me.
After I get everything in the yard done today and sunday I will post up my setup's and ask for advice.
I have yet to post up photos of my Kimber 82G, I think you have seen photos of the 10-22 target but I don't think I have talked about the brimstone trigger job yet. On the kimber it breaks at 2 pounds with near 0 overtravel. Thanks Gov't people for ordering and never using these rifles.
Dad said I could use any of his 22's which include browning/winchester 52c copies and winchester 52 target and rem 541's. I Know that my kimber weighs 10.24 pounds open sight and one catagory limits weight to 10.5 pounds rifle and scope another 13 pounds. I think I might have to use some of his in the sporter rounds.
For pistols I am feeling good about the "Sillywet" and mark II Gov't target but the rugers trigger is heavy. Both of these have scope setups. The ruger does well at steel pale matches.
My neighbor is a member and signed up for the matches with me. If I need an open sight pistol he said he has both a HS Victor and smith 41. He is a doctor so he shells out lots of cash for his setups. His rifle cost him over 4000 and is a custom piece with something called a six o'clock firing pin and a bloop tube.
Overall I just want to have so fun. I would also like to see my 425 dollar kimber and ruger try to stay up in the standings with some of the 2000 and up annies and Suhl's. (I know good luck with that) I am fairly pumped up.
As long as I can improve I think that Kimber will get me started well and serve me a few years untill i can shoot well enough that the gun will make a difference. My neighbor said more like 10 years for me.
