I'm going to take a look at it tonight or tomorrow. It's a 1851 brass 44cal. Supposedly the only thing that's wrong with it is the front sight fell off. (40-50 bucks ought to fix that correctly and hit point of aim)
But it comes with a few supplies including a $20 Petersoli measuring flask and 1/2 pound of Goex.
$50 for the whole works ;D

If you want to do the front sight right dont screw in another bead, send me the barrel and I will dovetail in a blade you can file to sight in and drift to center. $25.00 for you Red.

Take Twomoons up on his offer, Red. Dovetailed front sight is far better than any other set up for a handgun front sight.

Red you're lucky i was out yesterday afternoon or that would have been mine. If you're lucky, I'll let you hold it ;D I bought it. It's in fine working condition. Everything indexes and locks up tight. It's going to need a new wedge (there was signs where he was having problems and I made the mistake of taking the old one completely out and the leaf is flared out so much it won't go back into the gun) and wedge screw (the head is all marred up), but that isn't much. The main "bolt" that runs through the cylinder is rusted but not a big deal - steel wool should take care of most of that. Overall, it's in very good shape. I'll have to wait for parts so I can reassemble it though Yes, I am certainly interested TM. I also have a Pietta 1858 (which the front post is fixed). What I am looking to do is have the Uberti 1858 front post sight dovetailed on. Is that something you can do as well? Knock both of those birds out. Thanks

The spring on the wedge is just a retainer and if the screw is still in take it out and snap the wedge back in place. Both guns are candidates for a dovetailed front sight and in fact the new 1858's come with a dovetailed sight from some outfits. You do know that you will have to FIT a NEW wedge don't you?

Bingo, stuck the old wedge in my vise overnight and squeezed it just enough to get it back in ;D

Darn! It's amazing what can be accomplished with a big hammer and a vise!
