This was Indiana's first post regular and post muzzleloader doe only season. In counties that had doe limits of 4 antlerless deer or more, we had two weeks of antlerless season. Yesterday was the LAST day. We had a good weekend. This is the meatpole after Saturday's hunt. We took 5 more on Sunday, and were all headed home by 1:00 PM. All in all, we had 10 hunters take 12 deer. We only had 13 hunters in the group this weekend. Pretty good distribution.

Lot of work but worth it in the end. Me I would have a box of bacon and a barbecue sitting next to those deer and be cutting out the inner loins and barbecuing those right off the bat. If you let them hang too long they dry out and are a whole lot better fresh. Wrap the bacon around the loin and put it on the grill and grab a bottle of beer to go with it. Makes a great way to finish a hunt.

We eat pretty good at camp. We only eat 2 times a day... but they are good feeds. We almost always have some good chow for dinner. For instance... Saturday night we roasted a 17 lb turkey, had 10 lbs of mashed taters and gravy, with 3 quarts of home grown green beans, home grown corn, and home made apple pie. Then we had home mode blueberry muffins later in the evening. We work sort of like an army, and an army runs on it's stomach. Jabba

When we used to go to a deer camp we had a guy that basically wanted to stay at the camp and cook. Then drink beer all day and night. So we let him. He was a good cook in the Dutch oven.
Now it is cold lunch meat sandwith for lunch, and maybe a pizza for dinner. Breakfast is coffee and a donut. I also get to sleep at home without Jason snoring.
Nice mess of deer. You had 10 hunters take 12 deer but had 13 hunters in all. So are you one of the 3 that got unlucky............................................................................................

We have a nice cabin. Real nice shower, two shitters. I am lobbying for a urinal too. We have two SMALL bedrooms, and a large bunk room in the loft. Our kitchen is awesome. Here are a couple shots of the inside... We have a geothermal loop installed, and hopefully we will have the units and ductwork installed for AC this summer. ANd No... I was not one of the ones that got skunked. Squealy and I both shot the same doe about .1 second apart and they were both kill shots. Then I shot the youngling that was with her. Squealy shot another doe the next day too. Jabba
