so I went over to this guys house the other night to help him with his Stoeger 2000 shotgun that he uses for duck hunting. he's used it for several seasons now and it had started to jamb up on him the last time out. he bought it used several years ago from another duck hunter. well it seems No One had ever stripped it completely down to clean after the season end. the rust and crud that was in the bolt assembly alone would make a grown man cry. the dirt, grit and debry that was crammed up into every slot nook and cranny was mind blowing. long story short, those ducksters are hard on their guns and it shows.

Makes me wonder what's in my 870 ;D Red, I bet yours don't even come close to the abuse a hard used duck gun goes through. the gun is used for everything from a gun to boat paddle and shovel for some of these guys. I, not talking about the duck club guys I'm talking about your average Joe who hikes and paddles his way in on some public hunting areas every weekend of the season. mud, water, straw, gun powder residue and Blatts beer is the hallmark look of these guns inside and out. on second thought you might be right there with them

Mind doesn't, but my brothers did. We took his apart on Thanksgiving because it jammed so bad. We found many of the items you described ;D And yes, he uses his wood stock as a boat paddle so it's really cracking and splintering apart

You wanna sea them after a couple seasons hunting over SALT WATER.... they're really gummed up bad... I've used a whole can of WD40 on a Reminton 1100 after it wasn't cleaned for 3 seasons. They really get bad...
