Well with all the deer dying off and tags getting pulled this year I think I am going to go Pheasant hunting. Nothing else to do really. Bad die off from winter kill 3 years ago on the Antelope and Now the blue tongue kill off of the whitetail deer and no Mule deer tags it looks like a good thing is going to turn into another good thing as the pheasant numbers are way up. Some places are reporting two hatches this year which is awesome. All we need is a bad winter to winter kill the pheasants and I can just about go sell off my guns for the most part or just go shoot trap or skeet.

You need some visitors to come out and hunt some pheasants this year?

Good thing I bought a nice trap lol. We had at least two hatches of pheasants however right now things are not looking good at all as I am not seeing them at all? The creek dryed up, no dew or bugs & no rain, ponds are it for water and not so many, I'm worried I may have lost a ton of pheasants as well? still hopeing though some will show?

OK with the deer population down and the ring necks missing ( I think they flew off to where bugs, water are less of an issue.) You are going to have to think about taking a few of the local predators out of the area. Less of them means more surviving young for the future.
You guys have a chance to see and connect on some of the best prairie extra-pale skins and for prime select coyote you can get 75 dollars. Regular pales at 50-60 heavy sliky westerns and heavy northeasters at 35-45. At least it could pay for some gas. Shoot the pales you see first. All i get at northeasterns here.
What you need IMHO
3 reed calls because they can freeze up. Open or closed reed. Closed reeds easy to use. Tumble ball with a rabbit or tree rat skin on it to take the coyote eyes off me and onto something moving and looking hurt.
(For winter with snow cover)
An extra large white zip up cover all. I get mine from a couple of places I do work at because they are worn once and thrown away. I think any auto paint supply store of any spray paint booth might have them also.
Some type of white Camo gun cover up. I have used a pillow case before. (Little lady was a bit miffed at me)
For you guys maybe a set of snow shoes.
The rest you can figure out.
I am starting this weekend on the coyotes. I like to hit an area right after the combines take out stuff. I know the coyotes follow them from field to field. we got a little rain today but not enough to stop the fields from getting harvested this weekend.
If I had dead deer around I would hunt them before the yotes get them. I was lax on them last year and have vowed to take a big chunk of them out this year.

OK so they baited and killed the praire dogs, EHD got deer, mange got the coyotes, pheasants all ran off to kansas (Or Indiana) , Bad winter no Lopes. low water levels ran off or cook all the fish, no nuts in the trees so no tree rats, and all the rabbits stay in the holes all season.
All of this time I firgured I would go west for adventure hunting, Heck maybe you guys can come southeast.
