High magnification pistol scopes.
Say one wanted to go the route you have chosen and shoot long distance with a handgun.
Say I wanted to ring out even a 223 for 200 yards or maybe 300. (long shots for me)
The highest magnification scopes top off at about 6 or 7 power. Even at 50 yards I can't see the bullseye clear at 100 yards with my 6 power pistol scope. Mostly I would be using something on coyotes and deer but also ground hogs and targets.
How do you get up in magnification?
Do you use a rilfe scope and just come close to the scope say 3 inches?
Do you have someone mess with a rifle scope to give you more eye relief.
Most IER oe EER scope top off at 4 power. Field of view on the ones like my 6 power is small already.
Just been thinking. The 2-6 power I have is currently resting on my browning buckmark sillywet. At 100 yards I can aim at the top of a bullseye and the bullets come into the large ring but I could get a better group if I could aim better.
At 50 it is almost as accurate as the 10-22 target or the 541 target, they have 20 and 24 power scopes. at 50 I can run off the bench with most model 60 marlins or non taget rifles with the pistol so I am happy with it.
I would be thinking of using this setup more with a 7-30 waters or 222/223 contender pistols. No real recoil like your bigger long distance one but I do not want to have a nice black eye from say one of the bigger rounds I can shoot with it.
Most of my rifles have lower magnification scopes. My 222 rem 700 has the leopold m8 6 power. Only the rimfire targets have anything over 9 power. My main deer gun has a 2.75 power scout scope. So high mag has never been something I think I have needed.
