That IS nice! Ruger makes some really pretty Mannlicher stocked rifles. I always wanted one of their 44 magnum autoloaders- the old one- with a Mannlicher stock. Been a long time since I've seen one of those. I have a #1 with the Mannlicher stock, in 7x57. I love it.

Unless the skirt is covering something ugly I'm always looking to remove them myself.

Good luck! I have had Rugers on backorder some for almost a year! The Ruger Scout rifle in 308 was announced 2 years ago and they are still 6 Mo behind on filling orders, there are NO Ruger 22 pistols at all at my distributor. Ruger is infamous for this, announce something and put out pictures and then wait 2 years for the guns to be made. I don't even shop ruger anymore I just see what comes in.

These are a Lipsey's special ordered gun that you can order direct from Lipsey's or a dealer that buys from Lipseys. These gun are normally ordered a year ahead so it shouldn't be a problem getting one if they have any left on hand. Order it and send it to your local dealer, with their permission as they will need to send a copy of their FFL to Lipsey's before they can ship it. Not a big deal. Ordering guns direct from Ruger won't do you much good. Their filling their orders from their distributors and that is what Lipsey's is. About 5 or 6 years ago their was a shift made by most gun business's whereby they will just about sell only to a distributor and those distributors must order their guns before the end of the year for the next year. What ever is left over is sold to whatever distributor wants them. Not many let me tell you. I buy a lot of guns from Lipsey's this way and their usually guns that are left overs and all they want to do is get rid of them and at a pretty good price. Sometimes around a 10% discount which to a dealer that is buying a large quantity of guns is a lot. So check out the Lipsey's page and they tell you what to do to order the gun you want.

already have a lipsey dealer who is getting two of them delivered today. one is spoken for and the second may very well end up being mine. I'mn suppose to call him this evening and i'll either take the second one or wait for his next shipment, but yes Bill these have been in the works almost a year and they did not want to release the ad for them until they were actualy being shipped from Ruger to Lipsey which happened this week.

Davidsons, and lipsey's are what used to be the sear's and western auto.
They sell enough stuff to get the ear's of the maker, Luckly they are not just looking at price as the sears and western auto used to. Take off the walnut stock and replace with birchwood ect. Thus why we had the Ted Williams and Gleenfild stuff. They did not want to tarnish the brand even if it was the exact same gun in beechwood.
The limited's and dealer specials are great and at times a bargin. You get something a bit different for your dollar. I always look close at the Western auto/revulation/ted williams/glenfield guns as I have a nice cross reference of the maker to the brand name.
These three I have made nice money on them when i found them.
Western Auto 200-2554 = Marlin 336 (.44mag) Western Auto 2280 = Marlin 39A Western Auto 2282 = Marlin 39A Mountie (Rare)
It normally takes an order of 500 to get a special run. I have seen them as low as 251 for the 41 mag marlin limited, they made 351 of the 357 45 and 44 mag. Only 251 of the 41 mags. But these were about the same gun. So the run total was over 1000.
I have a thing for real short and real long barrels. This is where the weird ones come from.
I think that rifle is neat.
JimH look real hard at the chamber to bore barrel alignment (not easy to do at all. ). That 77/22 hornet after I looked at it real good seems to have the hole bored slightly out of alignment with the chamber. My 22 hornet pistol 10 inch barrel outshot the ruger 77/222 hornet at 50 yards. I bet at 100 but I could not see the target real good at 2.5 power scope. It flings stuff left and sometimes right of the target. Not up and down. I finally had a few old hornet loads that were handmade for my pistol with cast lead bullets. They are over max lenght but so is the chamber of my T/C hornet, When jammed into the barrel the front of the bullet showed a bit of the lands on one side. I think the hole is off center.
We are going to try to get a casting of some type to make sure.
Any ideas on how to make a cast of a chamber and how would one tell if a barrel has the hole offset from the chamber?

well I just talked to the Lipsey dealer and committed to buy the second rifle he got in today. jmarriott, if you can verify for a fact that the bore is not concentric to the chamber (or vise versa) I would send it into ruger and I will bet my last dollar that they rebarrel it for him. Ruger is top notch when it comes to cleaning up their screw ups. BTW guys, ....... anyone need a savage striker in 7-08 rem?

I take it that it has a scope on it which one. topped with a silver Leupold FX-II 4x pistol scope (the scope retails for around 340.00 new most places including on the web). I'm wanting 700.00 plus shipping for it. heck I'll even throw in a bipod rest.

I know to guys looking for contender pistols. I will pass along the price and add-ons.
7-08 would be a good round here. I think it is a little on the big side for me in a pistol.
I take it yours is stainless, Plastic stock version and I think it is a single shot bolt action correct. Does it have the muzzle break?
I don;t follow the savage line much, the only one I have seen was in 243 and it was blue in plastic with what i believe the same bi-pod. He was hunting a state park hunt with it and i had my 7-30 waters contender. I don;t think he had a break on his.
