Last month I put a DPMS AR-15 on Lay-a-way. After everything that happened, Wash machine broke down, finishing the family room, went on vacation etc. I decided to cancel out on it.
Well last week I had my 10th anniversary with the company and low and behold I received a $200 gift card from them.
I have some points built up on my Cabela's card and after I get everything straightened out I shouldn't have to pay much money out of pocket for a new gun I got in.
I ended up buying a Savage mod 12 LRP in 6.5 Creedmore. This is the center feed, box magazine, target action, target trigger and has a Very heavy 26" barrel and H.S. Precision stock. I friend of mine knows a gunsmith that deals with Savage take off barrels and the guy has a take off barrel for the same exact gun in .260 Rem. So I am thinking that I might just contact him and see if I can trade the Creedmore barrel for the .260 Rem barrel. I looked at his list of barrels and he also has a .223 Rem barrel in the same exact size but it Stainless steel. and with only a bolt face change and buying a box magazine for the .223 Rem I can change calibers back and forth and have a very heavy switch barrel gun. If that trade don't work I might have to work a bit to find brass but with Hornaday making it I should be able to get it up and running fairly quickly. One of the guys I work with has the same exact gun and a while back I was watching him shoot a 12" steel plate at 1150 yds using a 120 grain A-Max bulllet. So in the end either way I should have another long range gun up and running soon. I'm not totally sold on the Creedmore but if it does like the rest of them I have seen do It should make for one heck of a long range prairie dog gun.
