I have been trying to lighten my wood stock bull barrel Marlin 917 17hmr for a couple years now. I've been meaning to pretty much make an exact replica of my Marlin 880sq bull 22lr - which is by far my favorite rimfire I have ever shot. So I've been on a quest to find a discontinued synthetic stock with a monte carlo cheek piece. It has not been easy but I finally got one on Ebay for less than $25 to my door. It has a homemade spray camo job on it so I'll have to see how bad it looks. I might cover it up with a texture paint or maybe even get it dipped since the price is right on the stock. So I'm hoping to get this by the end of the week

I'm told the 800 and 900 series stocks are 100% interchangable provided both guns are the same (22lr/22lr and magnum/magnum). This is said to have come off a 22mag.
I guess I'll see ;D

The good news --- the stock looks great The bad news --- it is in fact NOT going to fit I guess I will be trying to re-sell it

Ok, I found out the problem. A 800 series rifle should fit in a 900 series stock, but not the other way around. The 900 series is built just a little different around the trigger. So I got into a little bidding war but am getting a 900 series synthetic stock soon. I don't know that it's a bull barrel - I suspect it is just because they sold more stainless bulls than stainless sporters. If it's a sporter, I guess I'll try sanding it. This should work
