www.taurususa.com/product-details.cfm?id=383&category=Revolver&toggle=&breadcrumbseries=Thinking about doing some horsetrading. A local dealer has this brand new Taurus for $325. He also has a T/C Classic for $365 that looks almost new. I'm half thinking of selling my s&w 357 and Marlin 60 on the private market. That would prob be a pretty even swap for me when it's all done. Just a thought for now. Anyways, opinions on that little Taurus

I don't think it ever hurts to trade around one's least desired guns, as their is always a chance to find one special.

I would look out for the T?C classic 22. They were recalled do to chamber chipping. the ejector chip the chamber and you can get a face or hand full of burning powder with them. Plus Smith and Wesson bought out TC and I won't buy anything from Smith untill the Hillary hole is going from the revolvers. Plenty of old smiths for sale. I have a brand new one at dad's with the recall notice It is unshot but my cousin has one just like it. His chipped the chamber bad.He recieved a TC contender gen 2 rifle in 223 for it in exchange. Then again TC at one time would take it in and give you a new gun for it. The Icon, AN encore ect. That might be the best way to go about getting one of the better TC's. It has to be ckleaned from the muzzle and has a target crown so it is hard to get patches to start. Accuracuy is very good but the trigger guard is small and hard to shoot with gloves in the winter. The taurus is ok but 2 inch barrel on a 22 is not going to give me a good enough sight picture with open sights. I prefer my 22 handguns with 6 inch barrels. I would see if 2moons can get you one of these in. www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/774/products_id/411545640/Used+Guns/Used+Handguns/Used%20Smith%20and%20Wesson%20Model%2010%2038SPL%203/quot;/A model 10 in good shape used is a much better revolver than a new taurus. Then again red you did not like the model 60 very well. So Maybe the taurus is your cup of tea.

I didn't hear about the T/C recall. Actually I don't recall ever hearing a negative about the Classic aside from the price.
I've been coming to the conclusion that I really don't need a handgun larger than a 22lr. The only exception might be my 1858 for deer hunting. We're able to use a centerfire handgun during the regular portion of muzzleloader season (but not the special draw muzzleloader hunts which I like to enter). So perhaps my 1858 along with a 45lc conversion cylinder would cover all of my deer needs.
I have yet to find that perfect "tacklebox gun" for hunting, fishing and camping. My Mark II is great at the range & extremely accutate but lacks reliability --- there's no way I'm getting rid of it because of the range use. My vaquaro Single Six provides the reliability but lacks the precision I would like. I think it's best at playing cowboy and shooting at pie plates --- I'm undecided on keeping it long-term but it's pretty to look at.
Just thinking about this 2" gun. Cheap enough if you drop to the bottom of the river or it gets stolen it's not too painfull. Easy to carry, should be rabbit head accurate to 10 yards, and I could dial it in at close distance for exclusive use. It's rather embarassing to miss a can at 5-10 paces because your gun is sighted in an inch high at 25. True story, I unloaded 20 rounds at a blacksnake 15 feet away - never could figure out where to hold ;D

Taurus may have your tackelbox .22 I forget now the model no. but it is their cheapest auto Or when I got mine $125 I think It shoots 7 stingers or high vislosty amo But the tip up barrel you can shoot any .22 from CB to shot one shot at a time. Has a long trigger pull but two handed you can hit the caps off of a milk jug at 25' to 30' most every time. Right now mine is out in my shop to desperse any critter that may crawl or run into or around my shop, I don't use it offten but I do like it.
