I was digging in the parts room the other day and pulled out a Mossberg shotgun that I was given for parts. The action and bolt were all pretty good but rusted and the stock was broken in two places. In addition someone had hammered copper plated bucksot into the stock for DECORATION??? I dug a little further and found a triggerguard and a bottom plate for the stock so I thought I had enouugh to put a whole gun together. The gun HAD a big pickle on the end for an adjustable choke and the barrel was 30" long. Since I envisioned this as a combination deer and turkey gun I lopped the barrel off ar 24" and put in screw in chokes. Then I got to looking at the muzzle and I soldered and screwed on a rifle front sight that was in the junk drawer and put in a fire sight bead. The gun already had a rear sight so I left it as is for the time being. I repaired the stock with acra glass and dowells and filled the buckshot holes with pegs and then stained and refinished the stock dark to hide the repairs. It didn't come out half bad and should make a good deer and turkey gun with the right chokes. Attachments:

Nice reclamation! I think all bolt-action shotguns are ugly as sin. I swear I believe you could almost get off a 2nd shot as quickly with a break-open single-shot (at least with the few BA's that I have tried over the years).

I had a fellow who hunted with a 410 bolt gun all his life and i saw hime shoot a double on quil one time, all it takes is practice. But that is whay i said turkeys and deer for this gun because usually one shot is all it takes.

I just saw it close up & T/M's did a very nice job on it, But then I never haited bolt action shotguns either ecept the kick on 12's, I have actualy used 3 diffearant bolt .410's and liked all three one was a 2-1/2" even and I got pheasants with it. the trick is distance 10yds shorter than others and you must be on the bird. no point and hope. I have had real good experence with .410's and have owned several & still have 3 of two are 2-1/2" a single & a sxs also a 3" over under. Don't think I would ever be without at least one .410 for the joy of them.

That should work out nicely for a deer and turkey gun, Twomoons.

That brings back memories! My first gun was a Mossberg 20 ga. bolt. I still have it but have not shot it in years.
