A while back I bought a group of guns from a SD Police Dept. In that bunch of guns was a Rem 1100 Mag that someone had taken to a tree or something and busted off the butt stock and recoil tube and the recoil Fork that connects to the bolt.
A friend of mine who is a gun smith is (if he ever gets time) fixing it for me. (Don't worry Two Moons, he is even slower than you are) Oops did I say that. ;D
Here a while back I picked up a barrel from a guy that had no use for it. Its a rifle sighted riot barrel for a Rem 1100 Rem. Had some huge rust spots on it. Their coming off though with soaking it in oil and then going after it with what is called soft stainless steel I picked up from Brownell's
I'm thinking of sending the barrel and the action off to Craftguard and have them hard nickle the whole thing when I get it back.
Anyway I read an article a while back about guns used in three gun matches and what worked. The guy writing the article seemed to think that the Rem 1100 was the fastest thing going. Then he found that the Browning A5 was just a bit faster and then bought a new Browning Auto that has just come out this year and found it to be just a tad bit faster yet. He said all three were faster than a Benelli. Well this one is faster than I am so it should be good when done. We are going to work on a load for 7/8 oz at a fairly low pressure and then open up the gas hole just a bit till we get it to function reliably. Should have very little recoil when done but should be able to put out a lot of rounds very quickly but still function with a full house load without any problem. So says my gunsmith buddy. but we will find out.
I joined this gun club last year and its mostly a pistol club but they run these 3 gun matches. Looks like I might have my shotgun for the 3 gun match yet. If my buddy ever gets the action brazed back together. Might have to get it back and send it to Remington if I want it up and running yet this year. ;D ;D
