I picke up a neat book at the gun shoow in Bloomfield. I got my own copy of Treasure Island, and INSIDE the book??? is a french fitted gun case holding a 4" barreled Unique pistol. The Unique was a french pistol made from the 1950' on as the Corsair and the D series and the Model 85. They were sold here by both Sears and Monkey Wards and mine is marked Wards (Western Field) Model 5. This is a nice 10 shot 22 lr pistol with adjustable sights made in all steel with a dandy trigger pull. Mine was made in about 1955 or so and is still better than 80% blue. The gun shoots as good as any 22 pistol i have ever had and will group under 2" at 25 yards if I do my part. The guy who had it didn't know much about it but I WAS ABLE TO GET A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL BOOK FROM cORNELL'S AND FOUND A SPARE magazine FOR THE GUN TOO. (darn laptop) I made a flapped holster for the gun and put it on my woods walking belt. All in all a unique find.

A very neat looking little pistol. I wonder if it was inspired by the P-38 or maybe one of the Berettas or Bersas?

It does have a look like a P-38. Appears to be smaller, though.

They came with 3,4,and 6" barrels with target weights and sights and may have been copied from the Walther TT Olympic in the 20's. They have been made in France since before WWII afaik. They wew also made with an aloy slide in 22 short for Olympic shooting. It is 4 3/4x 7" so it is bigger than it looks in the picture. The grip is just big enough for all your fingers.

They are kind of a nice little gun. Almost looks like one I sold a while back. Not a overly expensive little gun but fairly well made and function well which is more than I can say about some of the junk being made today in .22 Pistols.
