Bill, what should a .450 Bushmaster cost a guy?
I am SORT of in the market... but only sort of.

Cheapest way to go that I know of is to buy the Bushmaster upper Cabela's sales and that would run New $689.99. You can either buy a whole rifle in .223/5.56 and just switch it back and forth or you can take and buy a complete lower as right now the bottom is falling on the black guns as the market is getting flooded and just put the upper on it. The great part about buying a .450 is you can switch it back and forth real easy. I thought about buying one myself in a varmint model and they buy the upper in .450 but still haven't found what I would use it for as we do not have bears here and I can't seem me using the .450 for PD's but it would be a fun gun to play with. A complete lower can be had from impact guns for $279.99 with the fixed butt stock. www.impactguns.com/bushmaster-lower-a2-complete-with-full-stock-a-low-stdbmalowstd-604206019288.aspxI think it would be a total hoot to go hog hunting with a suppressed .450 and night vision.

I was shooting a .50 Beawolf or whatever it is they call that round at our long range range yesterday. I shot at a badger hole at 300 and didn't have a problem dropping them into or around the edge of the badger hole at all. One of the guys tried the 850 yd steel plate and on the third shot managed to bang it. The rest were right there though. That thing throws some huge bullets out there and would make an awesome bear gun or a really awesome pig gun.

Jabba got the new deer gun fever. Ain't it great to have rifles legal in Indiana. Stripped lower for Delaware machine (Indiana company) 49.00 That is the registered form 4479 item. Rest of stuff for lower is going to run about 180 (The cheap route) to 250 (better trigger and charging handle plus the time to put it all together. I did my first AR build last year but sold it off to fund my other purchases (I liked my AK better). It is not that hard to find the stuff to build one at the INDY 1500 this weekend and I know a few people that can help on the build (the same group of guy's That helped me on my build), They hold a build class a couple of times a year. The class is free. Cool to know how to put it all together, Bradis in Camby Indiana had AR rifles complete for under 600 at the holidays, I think they were double star I can't remember. Just ask for Mark the manager and tell him I sent you. It is a great store and they can order anything you need. The other option is to purchase a M4 gun used and get the 450 upper. just replace the .223/5.56 upper with a .450 upper. The upper will come with the BCG and charging handle. Also comes with a 5 round magazine. A 30 round Sig 556 polymer mag will hold 10 rounds of .450. I believe the 16 inch barrel is no longer made so only the 20 inch remains. You might be able to find one in 16 inch as they would handle better in the walking hunting you seem to like. I think for a walk about rifle it would be neat. Going from a muzzle loader to a semi auto with a little punch to it. I think when I went the 44 mag route I found the following ballistic info to compare. Cartridge - Weight - Velocity - Energy ft/lbs .44 Magnum - 240gr - 1826 - 1777 .450 Bushy - 240gr - 2300 - 2820 .458 Socom - 250gr - 2060 - 2356 If you are wanting the longer range stuff for Indiana look at the weird BFG rounds. A encore frame or a savage 10/110 rifle and a new barrel and you can take em at 400 yards in Indiana. www.bfgcartridges.com/Hit me up I will be at the gun show on Sunday AM if you get free.
