It's a generation thing! How many of us, ran around with our Cap Guns trying to be Roy Rogers, Randolph Scott, Gene Autry, Audie Murphy, Gary Cooper , Fess Parker(Yes I had a Coonskin Cap)etc( I did, did'nt you? ) and when we got old enough to buy guns that influenced us. This buying generation has been influenced by Rambo, Hamburger Hill, Navy Seals etc and are emulating their hero's. Who's really wrong here? As long as the makers make what I want, they can build what the next generation wants. It's not my style, but OK by me. When you put it that way................................WELL SAID !!!

Jim, you have a point, for sure. I think you could say that cowboy action shooting is that same Roy Rogers generation. Personally, I have no use for anything labeled 'tactical' or black guns. Won't buy 'em. But, that doesn't mean they shouldn't be made. If people want that stuff, and they seem to, so be it.

Never have done that, primarily because a Clerk in a Gunshop pissed me off. He said he shot Cowboy action, at a range near Colfax. I asked him where the range was and when they shot as I was interested. He then got Snooty and would not talk to me? Guess it was a Secret Club that wanted no outsiders? So I never persued it.

Always wanted to try it but working weekends alway screwed it up.

My new TACTICAL 22... I had a fellow drop off a Mossberg semi auto 51M/b rifle the other day. It was in sad shape having a stove bolt for a handle and no safety and a boogered feed ramp (when t jams use a BIG screwdriver). I quoted a price to fix it (Bolt handle safety would have to be hand made) and the fellow was agast, he gave $25 for the rifle and didn't want to put more into it. So I ended up with it for $25 and started diggin in my spare parts and found most of what I needed. I then spent 3 hours making a bolt handle from a drawing. I know have a tactical 22 that looks just like a MILLITARY rifle. Well kinda like a Garand. I might even go oout and shoot the tacticals off something!
It's hard to believe but even in 1946 folks wanted a rifle that looked like a military gun. I also worked on an Erma 22 Carbine the other day, the spittin image of a GI 30 cal carbine.
Oh and has anyone seen TACTICAL bacon??? I had a customer bring in a can the other day!
