I bought one from T/M's the other day & did a little shooting with it and was happy, yesterday as I was leaveing with my daughter to help her with something I gave the 514 to Jeff & Sean & Devon to see what they thought of it. When I got back they all said they liked it as well and Jeff wants me to find one like mine or Seans A15 if I remeberd his model right? I think it's a savage or at one time a springfield, anyway Jeff wants a single shot bolt .22 when I find one right. Sound like some shooting matches comeing up.

Nice Find Bounce! I believe a single shot makes for better marksmanship. Knowing you have to make the first one count makes a difference. I was looking or a single shot when I bought my Mossy 540 K. It shoots better than I could have hoped. I think Savage, Springfield & Mossberg made Sears rifles.

I have always ben a single shot fan, just most were not bolt actions but that makes little diferance in the enjoying part of it. the .22 single shot is the most enjoyed gun in the world in my opinion. And the least talked about.

Well I dood it! The 514 now sports a Redfield target peep sight and a good bead sight on the front. I willl refinish the stock and put on sling swivles and let my grandson use it for Boy Scout target shooting.

I might be off the target but I thought that the 514 was a smooth bore single shot and the 511 was the single shot rifle.

"Bill" did you do that"?
In the book it has smooth bore in both the 510 & 514 and they are both called Routledge/Smoothbore the 510 also called it a, Mo-skeet-O Bore or that may have ben a version of the 510 smooth bore? I'm now thinking so? Maybe like DD's skeet gun?

No BILL didn't do it but I still have the old barrel. I never checked the chamber and drove 3 stuck bullets from the bore, then test fired it and stuck another one! The blast of powder in my face clued me in that the gun was a 22 anymore!

There is a real nice one at highsmith guns in Greenfield IN.
I think they had 200 on the tag. if anyone wants it I can get you the number. Sounded a little high in price but it was pretty mint.
I got the 514t with the peeps for 200. The peeps sell for over 125 alone.

Thats nice to know, about them peeps I mean. as I just got another one from T/M's with peeps. Gave the other one to jeff for Christmas, Will try to try out the newer peeps one today, When I say newer I mean to me as I think this one is older than the other one. Bolt handel is diferant anyway & stock is milled out for mounting the peeps, & barrel has little blue left. Rifling looked sharper in the one I gave Jeff.
