I'm heading up to Milwaulkee saturday morning for 4-5 days of salmon fishing. I've never done this before but we're going with a group of 10-15 people who have. I've been sick all week and have pretty much have ZERO ready. We're staying in a hotel so all I really need is clothes. I'm stopping by the Cabelas up there to get the tackle. Should be interesting

Are Hookers on sale, I mean Hooks at Cablelas that is... I don't know but I'm going with a bunch of religouis people. I have a half dozen Busch TallBoys and a bottle of 1843 which isn't going to go over very well. If nothing else, I'll lock myself in my room and watch Skinimax all night ;D I'm out

Are you doing the creeks and small rivers or out in the lake.
Steelhead should be hitting the rivers and creeks real soon. Just a good rod a minnow shaped lure and casting. The steel head are wonderful prey will go from one bank to the outer side and jump ont land then take off to the nearest stump to snag you up. wonderful fighters.

Alrighty, I'm back.
In some ways, it was what I expected - I caught several fish over 20 pounds and all fish were larger than any fish I ever caught before.
The negatives though was the fact you were basically snag fishing. Only 1 in 5 fish on average were hooked in the mouth with spoons. Fly fishers had it a little better with an average of 1 in 3 hooked in the mouth. Not to mention that fishing was done in a city park in Milwaulkee.
I'm not sure I'd go for the King Salmon run again. They say the steelhead and browns run 2-3 weeks from now. They actually are more prone to feed since they don't die in the river.
