Ever since I picked up my 4506-1 I have been looking at S&W auto's and when I did some reading, one that stood out and people really paid attention too and thought highly of was the 10MM. So I started looking at prices on the 1006. All the prices that I seen were in the $699 area for a good one. Well Saturday I spotted one and couldn't pass on it partly due to the price but also the gun was in about 95% condition. Only thing that was missing was the box. So I now have a S&W 1006 Gen 3 in 10MM with 3 mags to play with here in the near future and I think from what I hear it should be one heck of a shooter. Had been thinking of a 610 as I thought I wanted a revolver but it was just too much money and this one should do everything I could of asked the 610 to do.

The Ruger Black hawk conversion I once had in 10MM/ 38-40 was awesome. I was a fool for trading it off. With the 10MM cilider & 6" barrel is was a coyote gun even.

Congratulations, Bill! I've always thought the 10 was a really interesting cartridge. I've never seen a gun at a price I thought was reasonable, but it's one of those I keep an eye out for.

My friends creation and take on the 10mm. He also has the colt and glock pistol versions. At the range he is always saying very load "10mm when you care enough to send the very best." I will admit it is a round that takes some time to shoot well. He shoots them great i shoot them less than average. I know it is not the gun.

I just took in a Ruger 10mm 38-40 pistol from a local guy. He wants us to sell it and I'll bet it's Bounces as he got it at Verdigre.
10MM is a good hunting gun but I wouldn't hot rod the S and W auto too much as they have been known tocrack the frame.

They only crack the frame if you let the springs get weak and are overloading them with +p ammo. With standard factory ammo they do not have a problem. You can learn a bunch about them on the S&W forum. Very well thought of guns by those guys.

I did some checking with a couple gunsmiths yesterday about S&W 1006 cracking their frames. 1 was and still is a gunsmith for 27 years and he said "What? ??" looked at me like I was stupid. He said never heard of it. Also said that the 1006 was the strongest 10MM ever built in a semi auto. Other one said basically the same thing. So where is the info that says they crack their frames?

I can kinda remember hearing rumors about Colt's Delta Elite 10mm cracking frames (or maybe slides). I never heard anything about the Smith cracking.

Been there done that one Bounce. Every time I sell one and then want to get it back it hurts big time. Did that once and won't do it again. Now I just find another one. ;D You know how the saying goes, guns are like women.
