I've been looking for a synthetic stock with the monte carlo cheek piece for my 917 for a while now. I've checked the online stores and they are either out of stock or else they do not make me feel very confident that I'd be recieving what I bellieve to be buying. They had 3 synthetic stocks for a bull barrel 900 series rifle and it was way too generic on the store websites. So anyways, I figure I'll call Marlin and get the stock from them. The new series just came out a couple months ago so I figured they had a ton of parts left over from the 900 series. Their customer service (could barely speak english) claims that they don't have any parts for the 900 series because it's discontinued. WTF - so if the plastic trigger breaks on my gun you're telling me you can't replace it? No no, something's not right. Their solution was to get a synthetic stock from Boyds Sigh

I'm thinking it would be easier to buy a 982 22mag that comes with the stock I want, put my wood stock on the new 22mag, and sell it. It's probably going to cost 75 dollars anyway for a stock and I imagine I would have no problem selling that 22mag for $75 less than I paid I'm serouis

Jmarriott, I tried that link, but apparently you have to be registered at Marlinowners to see it. What's up?

Here's the point:
"As of Aug. 12 2011 all Marlin lever production has offically been suspended for the remaining 2011 calender year while we try to fix the production quality issue at our plant"

Thanks, guys. I take that as good news: they acknowledge that they have a problem, and are trying to do something about it.
