Deputy Don had a gun brought into the store to buy this week and passed on it. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D (He didn't even know what he missed) ;D ;D ;D
Seems there was a Remington 700 7MM in one of the stores and it was cheap. So he had it sent to my store to buy it. Well he passed on it so I looked it over and bought it myself. So I now have a Remington 700 BDL in 7MM Rem Mag for under $200 and it looks like it has had MAYBE 100 rounds through it.
The stock on it is really nice and is one of the guns built in the late 60's with the impressed checkering on it and the bluing is about 95% and it has a Redfield Widefield 2-7 on it. It is one of the no prefix letter serial number guns. Perfect for my project.
I needed a stock for my other 700 BDL long action which is getting rebarreled and someone had decided to open up the barrel channel and used a hammer and chisel to open it up with. When that one is done it will be a 6MM AI and is a .25-06AI now with a messed up chamber. Never did figure out what was wrong with it as it will not chamber a .25-06 or a .25-06 AI and that is what it is stamped as. The gunsmith says $135 and he will square up the action and bolt and bolt face and install the new barrel.
The 7MM Rem Mag action is then going to Devon at Sinarms in Watertown SD to be blueprinted and a larger recoil lug put on and pinned and a new 30" Brux barrel in .338 Edge put on along with one of his Muzzle breaks. I traded him a couple hundred rounds of .330 dakota brass for part of the barrel and work as he needed the brass and I needed the barrel.
When its done I am going to buy a H-S Precision stock with the adjustable butt and comb and put that on. Then its going to get a Leupold 8.5X25X50LRT VXIII put on it and a Harris bi pod possibly. Might just shoot it from the PD bench with a rest. When finished its going to weigh around 16 lbs minus the scope. Plus it is going to be a single shot.
But what I am saying in the end is Thank you Dep Don for passing on this one. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
