I have a co-worker who inherited a Super Black Eagle (1) from his father and he's looking to sell it. He has no idea what it's worth and all I know is it was and is one of the best. I'm just advising him, not looking to buy. We were able to sneak away at work for a minute into the parking lot. It's a synthetic, 3 1/2", 12ga. From what I see, it was in remarkable shape. 1 choke tube that he can find. A shop told him they were not buying at this time but $600 would have been the price. I told him not to sell it for that. Another shop offered to consign it and thought it could bring $800 less their fee of course. And then he said another shop said private sale value is probably $950. There are brand new ones on Gunbroker that are priced at about $950 with no bids. So we are just trying to figure out a fair private party price. My recomendation was to ask $950 and see what happens. Ultimatly, I think he's looking for $800. Just curouis if someone knew more than us

Need to find a goose hunter. The waterfall crowd loves the SBE.
You are right on the flyway, should be easy to move.
As to the price? It might be better as a trade item than an outright sale. No box one choke perfect condition, If he wants something else I would think 700-800 in trade value. If he wants cash fast the 500-600 range is what he will be offered.
I myself don''t understand the 3 1/2 inch 12. Why not just get the 10 guage.

He's not much of a hunter. I think he had an 870 before his dad died who left him a revolver, an 11-87, and this SBE. The SBE has no emotional attachment so he's getting rid of that.
It sounds like $950 is too much. If 800 is his goal, there is no sense jacking people around for a month. Although I told him in 2 months he'd probably get more money than current.

Is there a waterfowl club in the area? ?? If so a flier on the wall of the club will get it sold. Put it on armslist, gunbroker and autionarms. See what happens. I use a Indiana gun board like this one so I can sell face to face........

If its one of the older H&K imports its worth from $650 to $700. If its one of the Benelli early imports (short Benelli choke tubes) then its worth up to $800 and if it has the longer Cryochoke and a comfort tech stock then it can go over $1000. No comfort tech stock is about $900.

I vaguely remember Heckler and Kotch on the reciever...I think... If the HK stamp is there in any form, then it is the earlier gun worth $650-700??? Those models only have the short choke tube and not the crio (I don't know what I'm looking for anyway...but that might save everyone some time if we know it does not have it on an HK import)

All the H&K guns have the shorter standard choke. Some people like them as they can put an extra shell in them even with the plug in. Don't ask me how that works as I have never owned one of them.

I'd have bought that thing in a heartbeat if I had a need for it. Aside from turkey season (where I have a perfectly good 870) and squirrel season (where I have a perfectly good single shot), I only use a shotgun about 3 times a year. I think those people refer to "floating" a shell when they can somehow hold 4 Alright, thanks Bill
