Went to a gun show today 1500 tables. Saw a few interesting things. A couple of nice savage 99's one in 303 and one in 300 savage for about 550-600 one had a period weaver scope with post rectical in 4 power and I almost bit at it but they would not budge on price at all.
I bought a browning sa-22 from the 1970's NIB for 450...Nice wood and all but I paid near new price for it. Still I don't have one and it is a classic rifle and was added to the collection. The japans one must not be going up in price any as there were 3 belguim ones available at the show at 900 or around and the norinco copies were at 325-350 used. So I paid retail for it. Not real happy omce I read the book but it was love at first sight.
I now have the browning model 52c copy, A-bolt rimfire grade I 22 mag, bl-22 grade II and the sa-22. I think a bar-22 and a buckmark rifle are the only ones left to pick up.

...the norinco copies were at 325-350 used... Wow, that makes me think my wife got a good deal on the one she got me for Christmas a few years back at Wally World for $99.95. Most people scoff at the Norincos but, at least based on mine, they seem to be fairly well made and very dependable. Mine is quite accurate and I don't recall it ever having jammed. I've wanted one of the classic Browning break-down .22 autoloaders ever since I can remember, but I could never justify the price of one - new or used. Obviously the Norincos are not made as well or as finely finished as the Browings, but it's good enough for me and has served me well.

I thought the Savage prices were pretty reasonable, too.

The 99's were something I looked at but my spending limit was 500 and I could not get them to go down to my level. It was all the cash I could spend. I will be back. I will have a few more. I got confused on the lever boss as one had no lever boss code and the other one was just a number 3 without a letter or a circle. One had been reblued and refinished, the other was original but I could not find the lever boss number. Both had a lever safety and brass rotory cartridge holders. Those savages are in a league to themselves truing to figure out the date of birth.
There were about 5 marlin 39a' and a mountie at the show. the mountie had a small M8 4 power leopold scope and was priced at 699, the b-78's were new production in 22-250 and 223 and were 1260, Not a single savage 24 in the whole show but I did go on sunday morning of a 3 day show. I meet up with a friend and saw his colt revoler collection saturday. He has 116 (yes one hundered and sixteen) colt pythons, 80 diamond backs and many other older colts. If anyone has a colt revolver question let me know. He only has colt revolvers. Not a single shotgun or rifle. He knows so much about them and talks so fast next time I am bringing a tape recorder.
I got a bulls hide belt, But they were out of stock in my size so it won't be here till next week. I paid 35 cash for the belt with free shipping. I can't wait as all my belts don;t hold up very well anymore. Heck this one is 1/8 in thick and 1.5 in wide. Maybe my pistol will stay in place now.
I will post pic's of the sa-22 soon and a few of the browning model 52 copy.
The other thing on my list is a H@K p7 M8 pistol in good shape not a single one at the show but 500 is not going to get one of those for me.

When I was in high school, a hunting buddy had a Browning T bolt. The T bolt had just come out then, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. . . . I always liked the original T bolts - they were adult .22's of very nice quality. The buddy moved away after college. I wonder what happened to that old T Bolt. That's one on my bucket list.

I've rebarreled and shot quite a few M52's and they are nice guns, but for just a shooter and a hunting gun i will still go with a Remington. A 592? deluxe has always been on my wish list.

I went to a gun show last weekend - didn't buy a thing. I saw some Savage 99's in the 600-650 range. I saw a couple nice Fox Sterlingworth double shotguns, in 20 gauge. My uncle had one just like them. The price tags on those doubles was 3500$. I almost fainted. Saw a lot of Garands and M-1 carbines in the 1,000$ price range- and they were all beaters.
