We cellibrated my grandson Sean birthday this evening it is his big 10th, Well when the presents & cards were opened one box labled shop light yealded sean a nice new New England 20 ga. full choke turkey gun from his Uncle Jeff. At 10 he now has a shotgun & a .22 rifire, not a bad start at age 10. I bet a spring tom is now in his dreams. He did't wast time baging rabbit & squrrel when I gave him the .22 a little while back.

Very cool
The gun has the New England stamp on it?
I bet that shoots pretty tight. My NE 20ga mod almost seems like a full.

Happy Birthday, Sean! I hope the proud Grandpa can help Sean get a nice gobbler this spring.

You will want to start him off with some 2 3/4 field loads till he gets used to that gun. That 20 ga single will be light enough that 3" turkey loads will have a mighty thump for a 10 yr old. No Sense starting him off with a flinch to unlearn! That's a great gun for a kid to start with!

The 2 3/4 field loads will have a good thump for a 10 year old in that gun. If he's about ready to lose some baby teeth, the single barrel will certainly do it ;D

I was about his age when i got my 20 gauge stevens, It had the youth stock. I got it for Christmes and at first remember being a little disapointed that it was not a 410. Dad looked at the 410 but purchased the 20 because the shells were cheaper. Good thing as it is also a moditied that shot closer to a full. I had no problem with old foster slugs even after i shot it for a while. I killed my first running rabbit, flying dove and quail, and my first doe deer with that old 20 back in 1976.

Nice remeberance their jimarriott, I'm pretty shure jeff will see to it that Seans 1st kill with his new shotgun will be a Nebraska sping Tom this spring. I gave sean a old Stevens Model 15 A last fall and he is a master now on rabbit & squarrel with that .22 single shot. He carryed one of my .410 single shots too last year but don't think I was ever told that he connected on any pheasants. He will do better this year with his own gun.
