I took in a kind of a neat little gun the other day. It was a new in the box CZ 452. What was so neat about it was the fact it was both .22 LR and .17 HMR. The guy traded it in because he had won it at one of the Pheasants forever banquets and when he got it home it had some pieces missing. Seems to make it into a .22 you need to take it apart and put in a small filler block in the back of the mag well so it will take the .22 LR magazines and the .17 HMR magazine you just take it out. Have to take the gun apart to put on the perspective barrel anyway so no biggie but I thought it was a pretty nice little gun. That is if it shoots like the rest of the CZ's. I just called CZ and they sent me out another block and pin for it. Great customer service from them.

I am a huge CZ fan since my son gave me an Ultra Lux in .22 LR for Christmas. It's by far and away the most consistently accurate .22 I've ever shot (that is when I can get it way from my son long enough to shoot it myself). I had wondered how those interchangeable barrel guns worked. I think the thing that would concern me most is that you would almost have to change the scope too when you changed barrels. I can't imagine that the .17 HMR would shoot to the same point of impact as a .22 LR even at 50 yds. or so.

dovehunter,
Did you scope the ultra lux. I love the wood on one at my gun pushers and with the open sights and the euro type stock it would seem to be a perfect open sights gun and that 26 inch barrel gives lots of distance between the sights. My pusher put the nice one in the back of the stock area for me till march 25.
The only multi barreled 22 I have seen ix the Sako quad which does 22. 22 mag 17 hmr and 17 mach II. It was nice but more expensive than 3 custom contender barrels so I have passed on the idea.

Never been a fan of the CZ's. They've always looked like army surplus guns when I handled them - but that was about 10 years ago. I think the thing that would concern me most is that you would almost have to change the scope too when you changed barrels. I can't imagine that the .17 HMR would shoot to the same point of impact as a .22 LR even at 50 yds. or so. I would think so too. At 50 yards, the 22lr is just starting to lose velocity at a pretty good pace. The 17 is still going strong. Probably be 2-3" difference in height I'd think

Seems to me I saw someone marketing a scope set up for the switch barrel rimfires- with the elevation turret set up to accomodate several zeroes for the different cartridges. Now I just have to remember who. . . Burris? BSA?

Despite the nice open sights and the long barrel my eyes just aren't good enough any more to shoot without a scope at other than the shortest of ranges.

Now I just have to remember who. . . Burris? BSA? I know BSA has one - a 3-9x with a 40mm objective lens called (as I recall) "SWEET 22". I have been looking at it at Dick's Sporting Goods with the idea of replacing the 4x on my .22 LR Mauser sporter. It comes with turrets for like 3 different bullet weights, but (as I understand) only for .22 LR. I finally got to see one at Bass Pro Shops and it is a surprisingly clear, sharp scope for the money. Red: You are the only person I have ever heard knock CZ .22 rifles. Based on the way mine shoots, I'll sure take any of them you don't want.

The Trainer is the only one that looks military. The rest 452 American's look like regular sporters. Actually very nice ones.

The Lux and ultra lux are a euro inspired stock setup the american is setup like a normal scoped rifle. The is why i was asking dhunter if he had scoped off his and how he liked the scope setup. the trainer is one i was going to get until he got in the last ultra lux his distributer was going to have.
Now I have a easy choice to make of one of 3 rifles. I can get the ultra luz cz with some real nice walnut as my gun pusher told me he would keep my hand picked one off the shelf until the end of march and maybe a bit longer if the others don't sell. Or i am going to order either a kimber 82 or rem 40X from the CMP. I am leaning towards the 40X but each time I see the new kimber I change my mind. I may just have to order a kimber and a 40x. Then hope the ultra lux is still around.

He looked at a few new ones that were covered in rust & pits and blueing issues. Speaking of scott, we haven't seen him a good while on here.

Haven't heard from him in a long time. Dang it Jack. Did you have to bring up the idea of the Rem 40X in .22LR right now. Wanted one for years. Have the Kimber SVT .22 and a Rem 541T but would love to have one of the 40X's to go with them.
