My son was telling me last nite where he read that someone has come out with a 28 ga. handgun of some sort. Still more solutions to non-existent problems. Personally I can't imagine why anyone would have wanted a Judge but my local gunshop says they are hugely popular. This just confirms the old axiom that there is no accounting for taste.

My local gun shop says they are popular, too. Not living in snake country, I don't know why.

Me either, but my guess is all our lives .410 pistols would send you to prision & now the store is selling them? And a revolver to boot. But to me it is likely a good snake gun and most pistol shot shells are as well.

I had a judge and I can tell you they are a blast to shoot clays with.

Up here they buy them for a number of reasons. Snakes first then Mountain Lion protection while out walking and then home defense. Up in the hills there are a lot of people that go walking every day and shortly after their first walk in the new snow in the fall they start spotting all these cat tracks and the next thing you know here they come and are buying the heck out of the Judge. There are a lot of new loads that have come out to be used in the Judge for home defense and their not quite as evasive as the 12 ga with 00 buck or a 9MM or .357 Mag. Plus women seem to be more comfortable with them then any of those. Besides haven't you seen the commercial of the person shooting the watermelon posed to look like a human head on a post on the outdoor channel. One shot and the head explodes or the melon I mean. BS ;D False advertising. Shoot a melon with a .410 some time and see if it explodes. Don't think it will even with a slug. With those short little barrels I doubt if a .45 LC will explode one. ;D

My brother has a Judge out in Las Vegas and he loves it. I never thought of them as anything other than an oddity. But now that I'm out in the country,I'm starting to think it might be alright for varmint and pest control. It would be a lot more manageable than a 4.10 long gun in a corner on the porch.
Bounce I would agree that the 28 ga is far better than the 4.10. However there is one big drawback to the 28. Ammo is hard to find and more often than not if you find 28 ga ammo around here it's in #8 or #9 shot loads for trap shooters. Not a good varmint or self protection load,

The only thing I was serious about was the $250.00 for one

If they would get rid of the 410 and the long cylinder I would go for a 45 colt with moon clips for 45 auto..
I have a pistol grip 410 Mossberg camper ( my only Mossberg.) They slug loads are good home defense. I just do see in a small barreled shotgun where it would be a good idea. I do know they are the rage in the gang profile pictures lately. The TV has shown several photo's of gang shootings/arrests lately and I saw 2 judges and 3 glocks in the pictures. That cylinder is just to big to carry for me. I will stick with my Rossi model 66 copy to carry.

Mine had a 6inch barrel and as ugly as it was it was just fun to shoot. It was a blast throwing clays by hand and trying to shoot them out of the air.
