$19.11 or $20.11?
Who ever gets it will likely get shot with a 1911 Iver Johnson bull dog.

I am looking to purchase a 1911 yet this year for the 100Th. Right now i would like a colt but what they are now showing i don't really like. I do hear that even the standards will have the serial numbers 19112011 in it.
I want a steel shooting gun for single stack, Heck for 150 dollars more than the 100th edition I can get a Kimber grand raptor. If i put down 15% I can get the kimber for 1200 straight from the custom shop with the builders name on the box like colt used to do. (I just have to wait about 6 months till the run starts)
That is a big cash outlay for shooting at steel plates.

I run a Springfield "Operator" and it shoots as good or better than I can shoot. I used it last year for the International Tactical Rifleman Championship and it never burped or let me down, even on targets that were 50 yards away.

AS soon as the weather breaks enough for the man that owns them(me i can shoot anytime) I am going to shoot a springfield "loaded" a Remington r1 and Kimber pro carry and a colt commander and a colt model 70 and 80 and delta elite 10 mm. I think he said something about a spartan sti and a few more also. He is a 45 nut and has lots of them. Different sizes and shapes and a few makers. Plus i get to wear them in a few different holsters and shoot steel with them so i should have a better idea of what i am looking for.
I have not heard of the operator, I shot the springfield socom 16 308 and just thought it was overpriced and not my style. That is the only Springfield I have ever shot.

That would be great to e able to try all those different makes and models of 1911's. I would be interested in your impressions.

This the Operator in action at the ITRC match in 2009. Part of the course required both of us to shoot while moving, hence the blurry picture.

Do you use a light or a laser on the operator? I like the operator it looks like a good duty gun and the is kinds what i am looking for Maybe a little flashier more BBQ ish. Even the GI looks neat but it looks like you get factory night sights with the operator. I like the 3 dot night sights if I was going to carry it at night when most of the zombies are out.
If not is there a reason you chose the operator over the loaded or say the range officer? Night sights i take it.
It looks pretty tactual in the picture but i don't think i see anything hanging off the rail. With a full size pistol I could see carrying with a light/laser since lots of the good 1911 holsters for LEO duty have the 300 and 200 series lights. Heck it is big already what does a little more under the barrel matter. The under rail does not really effect to overall look of the 1911 as I had figure without a light. I could see the light and laser being effective in a LOE situation clearing rooms and such. The rail is something I need to think about. Lots of options.
A laser is legal sighting system for all game in Indiana. Have been looking at a setup for night time animal encounters either in 22 rimfire or 357 mag. Could be a streamlight 300 and weaver rail under barrel on one of them would get used often and be available with the 45 and a rail.

I do not have either for my Operator at this time. The motion is because we were being pulled by a truck. We were shooting out of trailer. dlsports.com/itrc_2009_video.htmlI got it because it was a decent price ( barely used). I put close to 1000 rounds through it during the three day match.

Never shot at stationary targets from a moving trailer before. Sounds like a blast,
