Will a youth buttstock fit on a regular 870 express super magnum

I don;t think a youth has any reason to be shooting 3.5 inch shots hells. Talk about developing a flinch.
I do think as long as both are express it will work. Just don't understand why one would want to.

It would be for me
90% of the time I use that gun it's during rabbit season in January and Febuary. I've always had problems mounting the gun with a lot of clothing --- the butt would hang up under my arm and you have to just have to hope the improved cylinder does it's job.
I think an inch or two will make the difference

I think the receivers are the same. The 3 inch mag and the 2 3/4 wingmaster I have exchange. I think the express barrel and the wingmaster barrels are different. if you are buying it just take measurements before purchase. I think the reciever is just longer on the 3 1/2 gun.
I think it is just a long nut driver needed to change them out. The fore ends need a special tool to remove and replace. That is one big old rabbit gun.

That is one big old rabbit gun. The biceps on my right arm are about twice the size as the left come Feb 15th ;D I'll probably just do black and keep the forarm as is.

I seem to recollect that Remington had some deal going a while back where you could buy an 870 Express youth model that came with an accessory full-size adult stock. You could call their shop in Illion, NY. They could tell you for sure.

That might be worth a try, I'll do that in the comming weeks. Everytime I call them there's a 1 1/2 hour wait time Remington might be the cheapest since you can order just the butt. Other places will probably want to sell you the forarm too.

That forearm tool for the 870 is about 35 dollars. I borrowed one from the Indiana gun clubs pro shop when I changed out mine.
I borrowed tool is always cheaper than buying one.

When I worked at Wal-Mart, one year we had Camo replacement stock sets for the 870. I have fairly short arms(though their long enough to do what I want to ) So I know where your coming from Red. Especially when your wearing a lot of heavy clothes. My Mossy 500 turkey gun is not a problem. But My sons NOVA is too long for me, and I don't care to ever shoot another 3 1/2" load in that thing!!

The worst is when the top of the butt is barely in the bottom of your shoulder. When you fire off the turkey mags the gun slips and you about drop the thing ;D
I was at Cabelas and saw the butt / forarm stock for $70. It said it fit "any 870" and was 1" shorter. I think I'll have the old man pick it up for me when he's there. I'll probably get it for $60-65 out the door.
