We took our 6 year old grandson camping and fishing last weekend. He doesn't want to use live bait or a bobber so he fishes with casting plastic frogs. They don't have exposed hooks which Debby appreciates on those times when he hits her with them but there was no frog bite so he didn't even get a hit. We started to teach him pitching and skipping. He had a little difficulty with the pitching but got the skipping down a lot better than I thought he would. At 30' he could skip under trees along the bank.
We had a great time and he provided a lot of humor for the weekend. Sunday got hot quick so the day was shorter than Saturday. I caught about a dozen fish on plastic worms but he isn't ready for them yet. Maybe next time.
Memorial Day weekend we head to the middle of the state and the Willow Flowage. The water levels are down but if one is careful it should be ok. We have taken an extra day of vacation to make it a 4 day weekend.
