Though some may think so?? Went over to the Lake, hoping to get a mess of Crappie. The Cold Front and Rain yesterday has put them down in Deep Water I could not reach from the bank. Jigs were doing nothing, so I got out the Fly Rod and tied on a Maribou Bodied Wolly Bugger(Black) I had tied this winter.
Had I been planning to Catfish this would have been a sucess? I caught a bunch of 3-5" Green Sunfish, would have made good bait. After I took the wife to lunch, I went out to the River. Took my Baitcaster MH Rod & Reel and some nightcrawlers. First Fish was a Drum that weighted about 5-6 lbs(largest I have caught). Second was another Drum and about 3 lbs. Last one was about 3/4 lbs. Not what I was hoping for but, I did not get skunked.

We went to the river this weekend for the first time in a long time. Set the cabin up next to the river and put out lines. The first day or so the wind blew at 40-45 mph and we got nothing. But when the wind finally died we started getting bites. We ended up with a nice 7# cat a Sauger a Drum and a Pallid Sturgeon that we released. On cat chewed through the line and we lost him so he had to be at least 20 pounds,RIGHT? Or a da#n turtle got him! m
Any way it was fun to get out after years of not fishing, we use to run lines every year and the kids would help. One summer we ate up over 100 pounds of fish. Last few years it seems we just didn't have time to go.

Any time you can get out and do some fishing, you're already ahead. You could be at work, or home mowing the lawn, painting the house, or some other disagreeable task.

Two Moons, I agree about it feeling good to get out. I had worked a second job for 7 yrs, got sick 3yrs ago and did not feel up to getting out for 2 yrs after that. So this is the first yera I got out in 10 myself. And Jack your right It's the gettin out that counts.
Saturday Night I met my son in Monroe and we went to a farm pond. Was a real joy to watch my 6 yr old grandaughter catch Bluegills anf Bullfrogs. I got out my flyrod and caught a few Gills myself on woolybuggers I had tied.
