Bad things happen when I go to Walmart's clearance isle www.hunterspec.com/Updateable/update_display.cfm?pageID=2372&categoryID=28They had this for 5 dollars and I couldn't resist accidently opening one to try it. I came to the conclussion that I have no idea what a deer sounds like when it eats, but I do know what a squirrel sounds like. I haven't found rubbing quarters together to work, and making the sound naturally is great at stopping a squirrel to shoot him but does nothing to attract him. So I'll give this a try...

In all my years of squirrel hunting I have never found a call of any sort - the quarters, bellows calls, Donald Duck imitations, or whatever - did any good whatsoever. I have pretty much concluded that squirrel calls are more for the benefit of the hunter than calling or stopping squirrels, but that's just my opinion and experience.

Way back when Outdoor Life had an ad for a Vibra Bat fishing lure, BANNED in Minnesota, guarenteed to catch fish! I had to have one and saved my money and spent Like $7.95 for the lure and shipping and handling. The next summer i drug that lure all over the lake much to the amusmnet of my grandfather. When I complained about the lure Gramps said," I don't know why you are bi#chin' It caught a 100 pound sucker right off the bat".
The moral of this story is thre's one caught every minute, Red, Good luck with your new lure!

Well calling squirrels is something I firmly believe in because I do it on a fairly regular basis --- a far greater success rate than calling in turkeys or deer!!!
This sounds like a squirell is it's loud enough to carry the noise a good ways.

I use the barker tree rat calls. It can spook them but it normally brings them in. As a kid i hunted all morning and other than the two missed shots early had not seen a tree rat. I eat a late breakfast and warmed in the sun on the side of a beech tree old and knotted with lots of holes in it. I awoke to the biggest local male barking at me not 4 feet way. Others were further off looking at the one barking at me. I have been a firm believer since. There was a pan of rat that evening also.
