Here is the old original Sauerbrauten recipe. You can use either deer roast or beef roast. :
Put meat in cake pan. Put carrots, onions, and bay leaves on roast. You can put as many as you like but most have enough to transfer taste. Put BUTTERMILK over top completely covering everything. Turn 3 or 4 times in milk and marinate 36 hours. Drain, DO NOT RINSE. Put in oven with carrots, onions, and bay leaves @ 350 degrees for two hours and than 250 degrees for six hours.
For Gravy : Twelve ginger snaps broken in pieces; Two Tablespoons Brown Sugar; Add to drippings and bring to boil.
OH SO GOOOOOD !!!! Enjoy !!!!!!

Any piece of meat would have to be tender and tasty marinated in buttermilk for 36 hrs!! That sounds like a tasty dish all the way around.

Interesting recipe! Never seen ginger snap gravy before. GREAAAAAATTTTTTT!!!!! Try it some time. You can use drippings from a beef or deer roast. It thickens on it's own w/o flour or starch. Don't forget the two tablespoons of brown sugar.

It sounds good DD, and I had a great liver & onion supper, realy. the very best way I know is to take two yellow onions , slice & cut up a bit like 1 to 2 inches , have just a little olive oil in your cast iron pan and spread the onion around the pan on very low heat and cover, then go watch Glen Beck till the 45 minute comercal then go stir the onions and level them in the pan, add salt & pepper over the onions, then lay on the liver all over the top and sprinkel more salt & peper. Then add V8 juice till it just covers the liver, then cover & trun up the heat just a dab so that in 20 minuts when you check it the juice is just at a low boil, Then enjoy!! I'm now drinking two meals a day [meal in a can] soy S&*t so tonights supper was awesome. Yes I will have it again as I have leftovers.
