I made it out 6 times I guess. I think the old man got 5 when he was with me. In total I went 10 rabbits for 18 shots. I hit more than I missed so I'm happy
Today the old man and I got out in a bit of cold front that was pushing 20 mile an hour wind and a few inches of snow. We gave them hell and used every trick in the book. Today we got 4 (him 1, me 3).
The first one, I was walking and stopped dead in my tracks. There was an eye ball 4 feet away from me. Beings how I like to give animals a sporting chance, I kicked him up...hahaha...I'm just kidding...I blew his head off ;D ;D ;D
The second one I came up to a gigantic brush pile (the kind you say "you're not getting one out of there") and peeked inside of it. I could see fur but that's about it. So I layed the gun on the ground and climbed up on top of the thing. After a few minutes of jumping around breaking limbs and falling several times, the rabbit had enough and make a break for it. And that's when dad's gun jammed
So we had to track him to the next huge brushpile and I did the same thing nearly killing myself. He got him that time
So a bit later he jumped one up and we couldn't shoot. So I stayed put and dad goes tracking. Soon enough that bunny came slipping back full circle and I killed him about where he got up.
The last one let me walk all the way past him. I somehow heard it get up, swung around and got off a shot in the direction I last saw him going. I ran over there as fast as I could and sure enough I hit him. However he was still going pretty good and I wouldn't be able to catch up to him on foot. Now Jimh can attest to the fact that I can't hit squat when I aim Sure enough the easy 10 yard head shot turned into a full on huge puff of fur flying through the air Oops, had to let that one lay there ;D
All in all, I can't remember a time recently where I had to use so many tactics in 1 day. A good way to end the season.
