I am kind of proud of this little plant. Looks like I will be getting tomatoes in about 40 days. With the parks seed whoppers you will get tomatoes till first frost and then save the green ones in newspaper.

Fresh, home-grown tomatoes is one of the very few things I like about summer (well maybe the girls in skimpy bikinis too). Store-bought cold storage tomatoes just do not compare with the fresh ones you pluck right off the vine in your back yard. It just don't get any better!!! Slice one up and smear on a little Miracle Whip and you've got some mighty fine eating. ;D

Mine are doing good, but not nearly that big yet. We could use a little more sun, but at least we're getting warm nights. FreshTomatoes are great, too bad they are such a short lived delicacy around here.

The rest of the garden is grow along well. My cuc's are a little yellow still and I went ahead and planted a second hill of seed. No potatoes this year as the Kenebecks had a problem and I could get no seed potatoes. Kenebecks are the best one for fries and all they had was red potatoes.
the strawberies were splendid this year and I am gettting tired of picking them and eating them. The rest will be jelly.
I am not a big totatoe fan unless I grow them.

"I am not a big tomato fan unless I grow them." I feel the same way- I won't touch a store tomato. Compared to home grown, store tomatoes are a waste of time. During the season when the home grown ones are ripe, I pig out on tomatoes, and hope it'll last me until next year.

...the strawberies were splendid this year and I am gettting tired of picking them and eating them... I can solve at least the "eating" problem for you - send them all to me. There are two foods that I don't believe I have ever been able to eat my fill of and that's fresh strawberries and shrimp.

O'neill Ne. for a few years now Raises a lot of comercial Tomatoes year around or nearly so. When I find them in the loacal store out of seasion I'm not afrade to buy them even if they are looking pail as I have learned to take them home and set them out to finish the ripening prosess and they will and tase very good, not quite like summer home growen but pretty darn close. They are fairly spendy though. But the only way I know out of season to captue the real taste one wants from a tomato. So if you ever see a tomato with a sticker on each one saying something about O'neill Ne. give them a try But you may need to wait a few days to eat them to know what I'm talking about.
