Can you see the gobbler in the picture? He's hiding behind a tree in the middle. I took this and other pictures of a flock on a Saturday afternoon the week before the season opener. I counted at least three bearded birds. I figured I'd come back opening day and would be assured of getting a bird. Well, I got there at about 5:30 AM on opening morning only to find that there were about four other trucks parked within in 200 yds. of where I wanted to set up. Obviously I wasn't the only one to have been watching this group of birds.

That is the normal bird i call in. They stop behind the tree and gobble at me look at the decoy and try to get them to come to him and then leave the area.
The only time i seem to have luck is when we put them to roost and get in when they fly down.

You need a bigger zoom.... ;D You're right! The day I took this picture I had my wife's camera (which is now my hand-me-down) which only has about a 2-3X zoom. I wish I had thought to have taken our new Kodak SLR which has a 12X optical zoom and an 18X digital zoom. We would probably have been able to have measured the length of his beard. Oh well, it's the story of my life - being at the right place with the wrong thing!!!
