This guy posts as John Welder on the knife Network. Lives in Aroura, Neb. Here's a link to his site, the shop tour shows mostly homebuilt tooling. www.sharpdecisionknives.com/This is his homebuilt Grinder. He said the base was made from a steel lightpole cutoff and he hauled it home in his Honda Accord.

Plans for this grinder are available at Home Shop Machinist. I wonder if some Cop somewhere is looking at a cut off light pole going "what the H#!!".

Now I had not thought of it that way!! but had to grin when you mentioned it that way! ;D Bet that almost a daily thought in your profession! My guess was since he's a self employed welder the pole section was scrap from a job site? I do have a copy of those plans or very simular. They are clones of Belmont Machinings KMG grinder. Rob Frink, does not mind and sells a lot of parts to guys copying his design.
