I think I have something like that that could work in the garage. At my old house I fixed the blower motor on the furnace one year and the next year the whole thing went to crap (Carbon monoxide detector went off the first time it fired up) and I replaced the whole furnace.
I have been using the blower as a garage fan ever since all i need is to make the small round hole intead of the large air flow i have now.

I also have a furnace blower out in the shop. I'm using it to build a downdraft sanding table. I have the frames made up and installed the wire to hold the furnace filters using pegboard for a top the with all the holes chamfered to let the dust settle through and below filters just need to finish the base. The blower should suck all the dust down so it's not suspended in the air. I'm thinking it will cut the sanding dust floating around, down quite a bit in the shop.
Even if I'm not sanding I figure I can crank it up and filter the air in the shop many times per hour. It along with my dust collector should make for a healthier enviornment.
