Those links want me to register... No thanks. Jabba Sorry Jabba, I was not aware you had to be registered to view. Since I have wanted to make knives for many years I registered when I found this site. I have a couple books (should be here next week)ordered and am looking into setting up my shop so I can make a few(Grinder & Forge are the big hold ups right now but I'm working on that), though it will be a long time before I could aproach the level of those I have been linking to. I don't know how to post the picture or would. Maybe Scott can find time to do so?

Hey, don't worry about it. We all know what Bowie knives look like. Otherwise they would be Bowie knives, right?

Hey, don't worry about it. We all know what Bowie knives look like. Otherwise they would be Bowie knives, right? Yes your right about that, but there is a vast difference in the execution of workmanship. They can vary from quite crude to fine art pieces worthy of the worlds finest art museums.

The two that were won at are spring shoot that were home forged and hand made would be all the quality & fancy I would ever need in a nife. I have a Museum knife and all it's good for is irritateing Two Moon's when he watches me chop wood or open a can of bean's with it.

Scott Thanks for posting the picture!! I really need to learn how to do that. Now that Scott has shown me how to post pictures I'll show of my newly acquired skills by posting my "Bowie Knife" Granted, it doesn't look any more like a Bowie than what I think of as a Bowie, but it is a nice knife. I have probably had it for 40-yrs. It was one of the first I ever bought (back when you could still buy these things pretty cheap. As you can see it's a German PUMA which I had always understood to be top quality for store-bought knives. I have found that it takes and holds an edge very well, probably the best of any knife I currently own.

Thats a fine looking bowie,,, I like the handle but think it would not really fit the hand well. Maybe i am full of crap also.
dovehunter
What a fine piece of steel. I love older puma and marbles knives. Grandfathers puma whitetail hunter is still as sharp as new.

J Marriot, That knife would fall into the class of an Art Knife. Not likeley to ever see field use, it;s too purty. I do think it would be servicable if one were inclined to use it. I do think the hex handle would be more useful and comfortable than maby knives I see where the scales are too square.
Dovehunter, that's a nice knife, the Puma's were a top of the line factory blade.
