The patterns on Damascus are controlable and depending on how you twist the skelps and how you fold them when you forge out the bllade you can make a number of patterns from random to a very nice one called the ladder of Allah. Just about everyone who does Damascus forge work has a pattern he likes or does best, if you check the makers blades you se the similar patterns. The above knives have a fish tail that is quite nice.
